I have some good photos of Naka-kon 2012 thus far on both the Facebook and Google+ page. Feel free to peruse and enjoy. I tried setting the quality at the highest for the Facebook page so that viewers don’t have to settle for less. I’m assuming that Google+ automatically goes with the best quality possible (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong). Share the album with your friends, and most importantly, enjoy! Finally, I’m more of a casual watcher of anime and a casual reader of manga. Therefore, there are some characters that I may not know about. If you see a character and know what the name is, feel free to shout out in the comments so I can update the captions and tags as necessary. Thank you.

Drib Trebor | The *Nixed Report

Continuing with last article I discussed Stop it, the first order of the No Drama rule. Mind you no drama is only the beginning. I mentioned before that everyone is capable of destruction and mayhem. It’s our nature. So today we must learn… To Destroy Ourselves. Now before you grab your razor, cock the hammer to your pistol, or tie that noose in no way do I mean kill yourself! DO NOT KILL YOURSELF! That’s retarded. Destroying Ourselves has nothing to do with killing. It’s eliminating the negativity inside yourself. And again it’s barely that…It’s harnessing that destructive nature for another cause. In my cause I have turned it to confidence and perhaps even arrogance.

The whole process of self destruction is simply accepting what you are. So let us take a moment to analyze what you are. What are you? Are you a loudmouth braggart with issues that run too deep to truly hide? Maybe you are the one who tries too hard to be noticed? Secretly a fan of something others would disagree or mock you for? Well relax. You have conquered a major part of your mind if you were able to recognize it easily. If not do not worry. Keep thinking. It will come to you. If not imagine what some people say about you. Does what they say ring true? Then use that for now.

Now what are the negatives to what they say about you, or what you can identify with you? Are they really negatives? Or do you simply call them that because others have identified a negative with it? Personally my belief is there is only a negative if you don’t like it. I enjoy who I am to the fullest and am completely comfortable with myself and who I have become. I’m stable as one would identify, but you would never guess that from the way I live. I joke about anything and everything, only holding back if I am sympathetic to the situation. If someone tries to mock me I take extreme shots at myself…And then show them how much better I am. If someone calls me a cocksucker I say “While that may very well be true I must confess jealousy in your expertise in being able to talk while sucking two at once.” They usually won’t have the time to respond to such a thing without getting caught off guard.

So do not think negatively about yourself. Never. There is positive in all things, and that is what makes anything you do great so believe in it. The second step of self destruction is almost complete. Are you pleased with yourself, with what you have accomplished? Excellent. No one can take what is yours. And if you aren’t proud of something find something! Everyone has one damn it and if it’s taking you this long perhaps you are just a deep thinker?!

Once you have what you are proud of, grab a sharpie, or some other marker, and then write on a shirt so it’s visible. Write what you are. Wear it around. If someone comments just give them a damned thumbs up for being able to read. Their words only hurt you if you allow it. I personally have learned to move beyond words, but I do understand how hard it can be. But trust me it can be done.

The final part of my installments will be Rebuilding on the solid ruins that remain. It’s not all that hard, but without explanation it might take a touch longer. So with that I say let it burn my little f***ing friends. Let the ashes of ruin smolder and you will soon see a better life.

Sincerely, A Chaotic Influence,

Drib Trebor

Thomas Holbrook II | The *Nixed Report

This year has begun in such an impactful way. In the United States alone, this is especially true. There is the fight against SOPA and PIPA. Wr also are seeing Barnes and Noble fighting Microsoft in court over their patent claims against Android. Even this election year has been interesting with one presidential candidate challenging the status quo, which is the overall theme for 2012.

With a new beginning comes that challenge against what’s already established. After all, those who are set in their ways will fight to the bitter end to prevent change. With sites like these, I am well aware that in the event that popularity is achived, criticism will follow. It comes with the territory. Knowing the mistakes in the past, I am well prepared for the future.

The Website

I am still looking for contributors to the site. The focus areas that I am especially interested in are professional wrestling, independent music, and FOSS news and reviews. The more people there are, the better off the site will be. Visit the link for joining the team for more details.

The Magazine

Each piece of content that is published on the site in a given month will be in the corresponding issue of the magazine. Here’s some good news for everyone. The PDF of the magazine will be $.50 USD while the CD-ROM will be $.99 USD. The CD will have goodies on it.

The first issue will be out within the next couple of days. It’s time to kick things into a higher gear.

Defeating Yourself! The Anarchist Guide To Finding Yourself In The Ruins Of Your Mind

A look at my chaotic life, and how one can apply it to themselves.

Drib Trebor | The *Nixed Report

Many have asked me how I can be happy in all of the turbulence that surrounds me. Drama, violence, politics, and so much worse, yet I am still smiling. How? Simple. I live by the philosophy of a single simple rule. No drama. None. I refuse to accept its existence. It can honestly be that simple. This first installment shall begin to explain how to apply No Drama to your life.

First let me start by explaining that this rule is so simple you can break it by f***ing accident. Even I slip, sometimes getting involved in drama, but only ever so briefly. Human nature is chaotic and destructive so we must place ourselves in every wreck we see. We are the species that learned how to harness destructive forces, just so we can direct them at nature and others. Drama is comparable to bullets. Take away the destructive component, i.e. gunpowder, and the bullet is simply a tiny piece of
metal. Worthless.

So how does one eliminate drama? Easy. STOP IT. Let’s take an example. Think of the worst part of your life right now, and I mean anything. Family troubles, girl/boy problems, school issues… Have it in mind? Good. Now dwell on it. Imagine the situation spiraling wildly out of control. Let it drag you down, feel the despair of the problem weighing down on your soul. Feel that crushing pain? Sucks don’t it. Ok. Stop thinking of it. Now. Don’t think about it. Is it your girlfriend? Ignore texts and calls for a bit. Friend lost their mind? Let them sort it out. Work killing you? They only take a bit of your day. Just stop thinking about it.

I know this sounds absolutely foolish, but most of the problems in a persons life can be ignored, forgotten, without the slightest bit of influence on ones life. A good example from my own life was when my sister and her fiance began fighting over, what I consider absolutely nothing. Still she, while I love her dearly, tried to get me involved. So what did I do? I told her she was in violation of my rule and I will have to leave her alone until she sorts it out. Later that night I called to see how she was. She apologized and even said she was in the wrong! I thanked her for understanding my rule, and she was glad I did that. They are still rocky, but I am certain if they applied my rule they would be blissful.

Me and my lover have been together for two, heading on three years, no arguments. Why? Because at the very beginning I warned her of the rule I followed. She agreed to it. Since then we never argue, while still retaining our happy lives and personal opinions. She is entitled to her own opinions without me having to be a bastard and try forcing my ideals on her. So again my rule helps there as well!

Now…How can you apply it in your life? Well its not an instant thing, but the rule can begin to influence your life. Starting this day ignore all future drama. If it relates to current drama, then slowly begin to filter it out. Offer other conversations, maybe suggest a game. Anything can be suggested other than their problem. You do not need to get involved. If it isn’t life threatening then all you would be doing is preventing them from figuring it out. Often a person will only be presented with one side of an argument, and thus will often take a side without all of the facts! This is a recipe for mass destruction! If they refuse to change the subject offer a small bit of advice, and then tell them that you do not wish to be involved. If they get mad, let them. If they don’t wish to be friends anymore it sucks, but trust me things will be better for that. I have lost some friends in my life…And yet I have gained better friends in exchange.

So there you have it for my first installment, the No Drama rule, simply Stop It. This will bring a beginning to your new life…But first you must destroy yourself. Next article I will explain destroying yourself! GO FOR THE TOTAL BURN F***ERS! Believe in yourself.

Thomas Holbrook II | The *Nixed Report

“Be who want you to be, not what everyone else wants you to be.” –Sonny Crack

Many people believe that we are at the end of our time in existence as far as this planet’s concerned. Some have argued that on December 21, 2012, the world will be coming to an end while others have put forth the idea that a new era will begin. 2012 is only the beginning. Before explaining why, let’s back up a moment.

2005

I had voted for John Kerry, and he lost. I was so depressed that Bush was going to be in office for another four years. An art instructor at the college I was attending was so sad about the election results that ended our class early. I had also come to the realization that even if Kerry did win the election to become the new President of the United States that it wouldn’t matter.

We would still be entangled overseas in conflicts in which war was not declared. The Patriot Act would still be in full force. Instead of Coca Cola, we would have gotten Pepsi. The brand would have simply changed. I remembered seeing a film in which it was argued that Bush and Kerry were nothing more than a false choice. They were related after all, and were even a part of the same fraternal organization at Yale.

In other words, the two candidates were from the same circles in society. In high positions of influence and power are those who are from the same or similar gatherings. Political office is included, but so are positions media that are considered “credible.” The film Outfoxed illustrated a portion of the problem with their indictment of Fox News. With Rupert Murdoch and Republicans in this country pouring money into influencing a mass audience to go along with a set agenda came blind supporters of the GOP. The problem is that the film itself only indicts one organization.

The Problem With Traditional Media

While News Corporation is indeed a company of questionable repute, others may want to look at everyone else as well. It’s not Fox or News Corp that’s the problem, but all corporate owned media. When it comes to traditional media, things can be hard to find for those who are passionate about certain things. Through all the talk about being ethical and only saying things in a certain way after years upon years upon years of formal training, are we being informed or is there something missing?

The main issue with traditional media is that there is too much corporate influence. While alternative venues exist, they have not quite gotten there in terms of toppling traditional sources. There are those who do the tried and true method of buying the newspaper to become informed about current events. With corporate owned media, it’s no longer about what’s covered, but what’s not covered; and if it is covered, there is either misunderstanding, misrepresentation, or both.

Where I Was, and Where I’m Going

I have dabbled in the alternative media since 2005. I realized that all traditional media that was corporate owned was the real problem. Each news organization has their faults, but they are still a part of the problem nonetheless. Magazines are clearly meant to specialize in one topic or a few topics, yet some of them can be very expensive and have little content in them. So where was I in all of this?

I started a newsletter using portions of my name and other words to make it sound cool. It was egotistical to say the least, but it wasn’t a serious effort on my part. I got involved with one of the wrong groups of people, and they eventually attacked other alternative venues (even going so far as to go to the FBI). The one thing that I was told was that I had to look out for me when I asked for advice about the group in question. It’s a lesson that I’ll learn over and over again. They told me, “You gotta look out for number one.“ I’ve moved on, and made mistakes since, but here I am yet again.

The lesson that crops up over and over again is to remain true to yourself. That’s all you can in a world full of bias, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. There is no way to be truly objective. Objectivity is indeed an illusion. Being fair is a lot more feasible. One of the best ways to remain fair about what you’re talking about is to remain true to yourself. That is how I will be running this venue from now on; being true to myself.

For that reason, I am bringing back the concept of having a digital magazine in PDF. I’m also going to experiment by not having ads on this site. We see enough ads as is, and as a regular net surfer myself, I tend to get annoyed. With that in mind, I would rather earn your support through word of mouth. I would also like to help those who become a part of the team by allowing them to promote their work here. If they succeed here, then so do I. We all help each other and everyone benefits.

I would like allow others to have a voice of their own talking about things that are not commonly talked about in traditional venues. Do you like free and open source software (FOSS)? Do you believe that conspiracies are afoot to take over the world? Do you have esoteric beliefs that you would like voiced? Are you a geek? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then I want to hear from you. This won’t be just another alternative media venture, but a haven for those who are considered misfits, geeks, and outcasts in general. 2012 isn’t the end. It’s only the beginning.

Entertain Yourself.

Educate Yourself.

Enlighten Yourself.

Most importantly, be true to yourself.
