The University of Virginia has a detailed history of Wargamming, which has extensive roots.  Both beginners and experts can check out the miniwargaming YouTube Channel.

Some of the well known titles are as follows:

  • Mage Knight (WizKids, 1999) (Now defunct, morphed into a board game!)
  • Warhammer Fantasy/Warhammer 40,000 (Games Workshop, 1983/1987)
  • Warmachine/Hordes (Privateer Press, 2003/2006)
  • Flames of War (Fantasy Flight Games, 2002)
